Gum Diseases

Gum diseases, which are referred to as periodontal diseases in the medical language, are conditions that occur as inflammation of the tissues that protect the gums and teeth. The most effective reason for adult tooth loss is gum disease. In such cases, early diagnosis can result in significant success and tooth loss can be prevented. If gum disease is prevented, many positive results occur spontaneously. For example, protection of the main teeth, ease of chewing, ease of digestion are positive results. Gingivitis occurs in the initial stage of gum disease. At this stage, gingival bleeding, redness and enlargement of the gingiva occur. Although it does not cause much discomfort in the first stage, it may cause permanent damage to the alveolar bone in the future.

Symptoms of Gum Disease

1) Bleeding when brushing teeth

2) Red, swollen and sensitive gingiva

3) The gingival structure that is separate from the teeth

4) Inflammation between teeth and gums

5) Gradual opening of the distance between the teeth

6) Bad breath despite regular brushing

Causes of Gum Disease

The most effective thing that causes gum disease is bacterial dental plaque. This plaque is in the form of a colorless layer on the tooth surface. To get rid of this bacterial plaque, you should not delay your daily oral and dental cleaning. So you shouldn’t neglect brushing or flossing your teeth. If this plaque is neglected to be cleaned, it will turn into dental tartar, that is, dental calculus, and cause decay of the natural tooth. The decayed area, which expands over time, covers the whole tooth and becomes painful, and tooth loss may occur because it is a very difficult tooth to save.

Ways to Prevent Gum Disease

The most important thing here is the care given to one’s teeth. If he applies what is necessary for dental and gingival health and stays away from the objectionable ones, he will have a healthy gum and healthy teeth. but for some reasons beyond his control, regular cleaning may not be enough for his gum diseases. For example, a person who has gum disease due to tartar or tooth decay caused by some chemical drugs should apply to a dentist and have the necessary intervention. Because tartar prevents reaching the main structure of the teeth during brushing, it is not considered a complete cleaning of the teeth. Therefore, this dental tartar should be cleaned by a dentist.
